THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) CHASING MAVERICKS (S Khumalo), THE MERCIFUL (*P Mxoli), NODREAMTOOBIG (M van Rensburg) and SARAYU (J R Syster) were slow losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Jockey K Matsunyane was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking GLOBAL APPROACH more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey K Matsunyane signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R 1,000.00 was imposed.
When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (14) and Jockey K Matsunyane's recent record with regards to this Rule and Guideline (2).
b) Jockey C Habib was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ATLANTIC CITY more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey C Habib signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R 1,000.00 was imposed.
When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (14) and Jockey C Habib's recent record with regards to this Rule and Guideline (2).
c) CHASING MAVERICKS (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.

JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) SHIPS AT SEA: Jockey K de Melo weighed out at 53,7kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.
b) ALWAYS IN COMMAND: Apprentice S Sosibo weighed out at 50,3kg, 2kg over the carded weight of which 1kg was declared. Apprentice S Sosibo was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horse ALWAYS IN COMMAND, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Apprentice S Sosibo signed an Admission of Guilt and a penalty of a Warning was imposed.
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) SUMMERLAND raced equipped with a compression mask (declared 6 July 2022 at 10H15).
b) ALWAYS IN COMMAND raced without a tongue tie (declared 11 July 2022 at 11H09).
c) SHIPS AT SEA raced with a tongue tie on (declared 11 July 2022 at 12H02).
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) STREETS OF SIENNA coughing post race.
b) SARAYU recurrent brush wound left hind.
THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
