THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JACK IN THE BOX (M Mjoka) jumped slow, losing two lengths. b) ANTONIA AUGUST (T Gould) jumped slow, losing one length. c) SUGAR SNAP (S Khathi) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The saddle on JAPAN APPROVAL slipped forward in running, placing Apprentice MK Katjedi at a disadvantage. As a consequence, JAPAN APPROVAL (*MK Katjedi) raced very wide on the bend and was not persevered with in the straight. b) Jockey JP van der Merwe (MANSOORIYA) dropped his crop at the 250m. c) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that I'M IN CHARGE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the performance of STAR RIDER (R Munger) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. e) Jockey A Domeyer was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking GLOBAL FORESTS more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey A Domeyer signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the number of strikes (18) over the permissible level and Jockey A Domeyer's recent record (last offence 08/02/2022). f) WILDEST DREAMS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
