THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BABY DONT HURT ME (M Yeni) was restless in the stalls.
b) GAL GADOT (*P Mxoli) was stubborn loading and thereafter slow losing one length.
c) RISKY BUSINESS (R Danielson) was slow losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start, INSATIABLE (K de Melo) was brushed in by SPACE RACE (K Matsunyane), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
b) Jockey J Greyling (ARCTIC SKYLINE) did not persevere with his riding from the 600m. Thereafter, Jockey J Greyling reported that he felt something amiss with ARCTIC SKYLINE in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
Assistant Trainer A Peter was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of ARCTIC SKYLINE on return to stables.
c) Approaching the 200m, NO TIME IS TAKEN (G Lerena), which hung in throughout, commenced to hang in badly despite Jockey G Lerena's attempts at keeping this filly on a straight course. This resulted in SPACE RACE (K Matsunyane), which hung in from the 200m, running onto and clipping the heels of NO TIME IS TAKEN (G Lerena).
The Board, after reviewing this incident in the presence of Jockey G Lerena (NO TIME IS TAKEN) and Jockey K Matsunyane (SPACE RACE), was satisfied that this incident had occurred as a result of horse behaviour and therefore will advise Trainer P A Peter to take the necessary corrective measures to improve NO TIME IS TAKEN'S racing manners.
d) GOLDEN ASPEN (M van Rensburg) hung in in the concluding stages.
e) GOLDEN ASPEN (M van Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee F Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies, was advised (RS).
JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) SAMOA was ridden by Jockey R Munger (declared 26 July 2022 at 14H40).
b) SHIKOKU was ridden by Jockey D De Gouveia (declared 27 July 2022 at 13H17).
c) DANCING DORA was ridden by Jockey J Penny (declared 28 July 2022 at 07H31).
d) BLUE WATERS was ridden by Jockey J P van der Merwe (declared 28 July 2022 at 08H29).
e) GODDESS OF LIGHT raced with club colours (blue with a black cap).
f) BLUE WATERS raced with club colours (black with a yellow cap).
g) BABY DONT HURT ME raced with club colours (black with a blue cap).
Trainer P A Peter is to be charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he did not have available the registered colours of the owners of the horses' GODDESS OF LIGHT, BLUE WATERS and BABY DONT HURT ME.
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) GOLDEN ASPEN raced equipped with a compression mask (declared 21 July 2022 at 09H41).
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) ARCTIC SKYLINE examined post race, nothing obvious detected. Veterinary report required prior to racing. Rule 49.7 applies. Trainer P A Peter advised (TL).
b) RISKY BUSINESS coughing post race.
SCRATCHED:
a) BIG CITY GIRL swollen right hind hock (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies).
b) SONG OF LIBERTY reserve runner. Advised 28 July 2022 at 08H15.
