THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) Fair start.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) LOOK FOR HOUNDS (S Veale) over-raced in the early stages which resulted in the saddle slipping forward significantly which placed Jockey S Veale at a disadvantage during the Race. As a consequence of this incident, BOWIE (*R A Venniker) was carried out around the turn.
b) REUNION (W Kennedy) and DONALD MCDONALD (J P v'd Merwe) were hanging in from the 300m.
c) Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with JULIET TANGO in the concluding stages and as a result he did not persevere with his ride. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d) Trainer G H van Zyl signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he presented DONALD MCDONALD in the parade ring incorrectly equipped for this Race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed.
e) Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 21.7, in that he was engaged to ride both the horses JULIET TANGO / CAT DADDY in this Race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2500 was imposed.
f) Mr M Mariemuthoo, the registered Jockey's agent for Jockey S Khumalo appeared before the Board and was spoken to regarding this matter as well as the previous contravention of this nature on 2 July 2022. He was put on notice that should there be a repeat of this offence in future, he may be charged in his capacity as a registered agent and the status of his registration may be considered by the NHA Licensing Board.
g) SILVANO'S TIMER (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Kannemeyer advised (SM).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) JULIET TANGO was ridden by Jockey G van Niekerk (advised 28.07.22/14h20).
b) CAT DADDY was ridden by Jockey S Khumalo (advised 26.07.22/11h17).
c) BOWIE raced without blinkers (advised 27.07.22/16h15).
d) DONALD MACDONALD raced equipped with blinkers and with pacifiers (advised 28.07.22/13h16).
