THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) Fair start.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) ROYAL VICTORY (S Khumalo) was switched out to continue its run at approximately the 350m.
b) QUANTUM THEORY (M Yeni) was hanging in over the concluding stages.
c) At approximately the 200m, RIVER QUERARESS (W Kennedy) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of COUSIN CASEY (G van Niekerk) which shifted in.
Jockey G van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7, in that as the rider of COUSIN CASEY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horse RIVER QUERARESS (W Kennedy) at approximately the 250m. Accordingly, a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 10 days was imposed. (Suspension Dates : 31.07.22 - 09.08.22, bdi)
d) In view of the performances of MOVER AND SHAKER (K de Melo) (11.80 lengths, 40/1 in the betting) and COUNTDOWN (L Mxothwa) (11.30 lengths, 25/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e) COUSIN CASEY (G van Niekerk), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G Kotzen advised (RVR).
f) ROYAL VICTORY (S Khumalo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen advised (RVR).
g) QUANTUM THEORY (M Yeni), placed third, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R Sage advised (ML).
