THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) LINEBACKER (G van Niekerk) was hanging in from the 300m. b) AL MUTHANA (AUS) (S Khumalo) took an awkward stride and was unbalanced at the 300m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) An Inquiry will be opened in order to establish why ASTRIX (J P v'd Merwe) and MK'S PRIDE (M Yeni) had to ease at approximately the 200m. d) Jockey R Fourie signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse JET DARK more than 12 times in the entire race. When determining the penalty, the Stewards considered that this was Jockey R Fourie's 13th transgression of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline M) since 1 August 2021 and his 7th offence inside the preceding 60 days period. Accordingly, a fine of R35 000 and a suspension from riding in races for a period of 10 days were imposed. (Suspension dates to be advised) e) Jockey G Lerena signed an admission of guilt for Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse KOMMETDIEDING more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey G Lerena struck the horse KOMMETDIEDING, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R10 000 was imposed. f) JET DARK (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J S Snaith advised (RVR). g) KOMMETDIEDING (G Lerena), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Rix advised (RVR). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil.
