THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MISS ROSE (L Mxothwa) was stubborn loading. b) RHYTHM OF THE RAIN (S Khumalo) was nervous in the stalls, stood awkwardly and was slow into stride. c) MARADIVA (JP van der Merwe) jumped inwards and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the late arrival of the ambulance on track and was further delayed due to the late withdrawal of FOOT SOLDIER (S Khathi), which dislodged its rider en route to the start and bolted the course. b) Shortly after the start RHYTHM OF THE RAIN (S Khumalo) was unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarter by MARADIVA (JP van der Merwe). c) TIPSY TINA (E Webber) was hanging in from the 200m. d) CAPTAIN'S WALK (C Habib) and RHYTHM OF THE RAIN (S Khumalo) brushed at the finish. e) Jockey R Munger reported that JAYRANI made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) MISS ROSE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
