THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SILVER CELEBRITY (E Webber) was stubborn loading. b) WANGAN MIDNIGHT (R Munger) was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. c) DIRTY MARTINI (JP van der Merwe) was nervous in the stalls. d) ROYAL SHINDIG (T Gould) stood awkwardly in the stalls. e) BENEFICIARY (*K Brewer) was nervous and stood awkwardly in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 1400m SILVER CELEBRITY (E Webber) took an awkward stride and had to be steadied, losing position, when racing tight on the inside of LORD MARMITE (*MH Zuma). b) Approaching the 400m HEAD GARDENER (F Herholdt) had to be steadied and switched out to avoid running onto the heels of a tiring ROYAL SHINDIG (T Gould). Shortly thereafter Jockey Herholdt (HEAD GARDENER) briefly dropped his right-side rein c) Approaching the 300m SILVER CELEBRITY (E Webber) was forced to check when close to the heels of LORD MARMITE (*MH Zuma), which shifted out without correction. d) Apprentice MH Zuma was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of LORD MARMITE he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to SILVER CELEBRITY at the 300m. Apprentice MH Zuma signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: 04/08/2022 to 10/08/2022 inclusive) e) Jockey R Munger reported that he felt something amiss with WANGAN MIDNIGHT and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockey S Khumalo reported that PAULLY did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 100m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. g) HOMER FIDGET, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised. (MM) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) EXCELSIOR raced without a tongue tie (declared 07h54 on 20220801) b) SILVER CELEBRITY raced with a compression mask (declared 08h42 on 20220801) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) L Mxothwa rode +0.5kg (55.1kgs) b) LORD MARMITE raced in club colours - stipes permission THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PAULLY - examined post-race. Not striding out left front b) WANGAN MIDNIGHT - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected c) DIRTY MARTINI - brush wound left hind THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
