THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 250m IRISH MORNING (G Behr) shifted in away from the crop, was straightened and thereafter was hanging in. b) Leaving the 50m ALL ABOUT AL (JP van der Merwe) was carried in by BARNEY MCGREW (D Ashby), which shifted in without sufficient correction. As a consequence, WORLDS YOUR OYSTER (J Jacobs) and T'CHALLA (S Mbhele) were severely cramped for galloping room on the inside of ALL ABOUT AL (JP van der Merwe), which changed stride and shifted in away from BARNEY MCGREW (D Ashby) at the finish. As a result of this incident, T'CHALLA (S Mbhele) was squeezed out, had to be checked and made contact with the hindquarters of both IRISH MORNING (G Behr) and WORLDS YOUR OYSTER (J Jacobs), with both horses being turned and becoming unbalanced shortly after the finish. c) Jockey D Ashby was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of BARNEY MCGREW he failed to ensure that he was not a source of interference to WORLDS YOUR OYSTER and T'CHALLA at the finish. Jockey D Ashby signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: 03/08/2022 to 09/08/2022 inclusive) d) BARNEY MCGREW, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AD Steyn was advised.
