THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JAIMALA (*G Pieterse) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BRENDEN JAMES (R Munger) was buffeted between MY TRUE NORTH (*K A Brewer), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls, and JAIMALA (*G Pieterse), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) QUNETRA (J R Syster) commenced to over-race in the middle stages. c) Apprentice G Pieterse was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride the horse JAIMALA out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Apprentice G Pieterse signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R 1,000.00 was imposed. Notwithstanding the fact that Apprentice G Pieterse went on to win the Race, the Stipendiary Stewards were not satisfied that Apprentice G Pieterse had ridden this gelding out with suitable vigour from the 75m to the finish. d) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride the horse ELUSIVE SWANN out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Jockey G Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R 1,000.00 was imposed. Notwithstanding the fact that Jockey G Lerena had secured his position in the finish, the Stipendiary Stewards were not satisfied that Jockey G Lerena had ridden this gelding out with suitable vigour in the concluding stages. e) JAIMALA (*G Pieterse), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
