THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GLOBAL GUNNER (R Danielson) was stubborn loading. b) PRINCE OF HEAVEN (W Agrella) was stubborn loading and slow into stride. c) THE REFLEX (K Minnie) and SIBERIAN FOX (*P Mxoli) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 400m INDY VIEW (M Mjoka), which was hanging in throughout, had to steady momentarily off the heels of ADMIRALS CHANCE (S Khumalo), which rolled out marginally. b) Jockey M Mjoka (INDY VIEW) was asked to explain the different tactics of today's race. Jockey M Mjoka explained to the Board that his instructions were to drop in and obtain cover as he was drawn wide. He further explained that he was held up from the 1000m to the 600m due to the horses in front of him being unable to maintain pace with the front-running horses. He elected to shift to a position of 3-wide to improve his position. At the 400m, this colt commenced to hang in and had to be eased off the heels of ADMIRALS CHANCE (S Khumalo). As a result of this incident, INDY VIEW (M Mjoka) lost momentum and took time to get into his natural stride. Trainer SB Kotzen appeared before the Board and confirmed these instructions. c) CAN COL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
