THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROMANOFF (Y Ramzan) and BADRAH (AUS) (M Mjoka) were stubborn loading. b) PINNACLE (M van Rensburg) was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. c) PRINCESS DEB'S (S Khathi) was nervous in the stalls. d) ONNETILIA (*P Mxoli) kicked the back gates of the starting stalls and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 800m ROMANOFF (Y Ramzan) had to steady momentarily when ROMANOFF (Y Ramzan) and BOUQUET (X Ndlovu) were carried out by PRINCESS DEB'S (S Khathi), which failed to negotiate the turn. b) Leaving the 300m BADRAH (AUS) (M Mjoka) had to steady momentarily and switched in to avoid running onto the heels of IQEMBULABESIFAZANE (R Danielson). c) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking FEARLESS KITTY more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey S Khumalo used his crop, the number of strikes (15) over the permissible level and FEARLESS KITTY's finishing position. d) FEARLESS KITTY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
