THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HOT ICE (D Ashby), BENNELONG POINT (C Bantam) and PREVALENCE (C Habib) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride. b) FORGED STEEL (R Munger) jumped awkwardly, losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. c) RUBERTUS (C Orffer) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HOT ICE (D Ashby) raced green. b) Jockey L Mxothwa appeared before the Board. His attention was drawn to Rule 62.2.8 and was reminded of his obligation to keep his mounts on a straight course parallel to the running rail and relative to his drawn position until a point not less than 200m from the start. c) Jockey C Bantam reported that BENNELONG POINT coughed post-race. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) RED IMPACT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
