THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROSALIE RUNS (S Mbhele) jumped awkwardly with its head up and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Steady rain fell prior to and during the running of this race. b) Jockey G Behr reported that PERFECT TRUST had not enjoyed the soft underfoot conditions. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. c) From the 50m ACADEMIC GOLD (C Orffer), which was showing a tendency to hang out, shifted out away from ROSALIE RUNS (S Mbhele), which shifted out. A member of the Stipendiary Board and Jockey C Orffer (ACADEMIC GOLD) called a race review regarding this incident which was followed by an Objection being lodged by Jockey C Orffer, the rider of the 2nd placed horse ACADEMIC GOLD against the winner ROSALIE RUNS (S Mbhele) on the grounds of intimidation in the latter stages. The Objection Board, after giving due regard to the evidence put forward, reviewing the patrol films and giving consideration to the margin of 0,05 of a length between the two horses concerned, could not be satisfied to the requisite degree that ACADEMIC GOLD would have finished ahead of ROSALIE RUNS had this incident not occurred and therefore overruled the Objection. Jockey C Orffers' deposit was refunded. d) ROSALIE RUNS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee C Dixon, acting on behalf of Trainer WA Nel, was advised.
