THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SEA MASTER (S Khumalo) was difficult to load. Trainer C Hewitson was advised to re-school this gelding. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) BILLY BAZOOKA (*D Geerthsen) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. Thereafter, Apprentice D Geerthsen reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in the straight and consequently did not persevere with his ride from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer P Lafferty will be requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of BILLY BAZOOKA on return to the stables. b) Jockey K de Melo reported that WITH PLEASURE took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey C Habib signed an admission of guilt for Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse ARTIC TUNE more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey C Habib struck the horse ARTIC TUNE, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. d) SEA MASTER (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Hewitson advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) ARTIC TUNE was ridden by Jockey C Habib. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
