THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SPIRIT OF DACHA (M Mjoka) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Approximately the 300m, FINAL DESTINY (A Mgudlwa) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between STEVIE GEE (A Arries) which shifted out and was immediately straightened and GIAMBATTISTA (S Khumalo). b) Approaching the 200m, SPIRIT OF DACHA (M Mjoka) was tightened and steadied on the inside of STEVIE GEE (A Arries), and on the outside of DESERT PRIDE (S Moodley) which was carried out marginally by MONSOON KENNY (*D Geerthsen) which was tiring and rolled out. c) At the 150m, Jockey C Habib was dislodged from RUNNING FREELY which broke down and fell. As a consequence of this incident, MONSOON KENNY (*D Geerthsen) had to take evasive action in order to avoid the fallen horse and rider. Jockey C Habib was attended to by the Paramedics and brought to the Course Medical Centre. As a result, Jockey C Habib was incapacitated from weighing back in. The Board acting in terms of Rule 66.2, deemed his weight to be correct. d) GREY OCEAN (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer O Mhlamvu acting on behalf of Trainer G H van Zyl advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) RUNNING FREELY was ridden by Jockey C Habib (advised 22.08.22/7h25). b) WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL raced without cheek pieces (advised 20.08.22/8h24). c) SPIRIT OF DACHA raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 12.08.22/9h14). d) MONSOON KENNY raced with a compression mask. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE MEDICAL OFFICER REPORTED : a) Jockey C Habib was examined after being dislodged:- Sprained left hip. M.O Dr Pillay. Rule 25.12 applies. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) RUNNING FREELY : Broke down, bi-lateral fracture both front legs. Euthanased on humane grounds. Blood specimens for taken for analysis. Trainer G Rich advised (TL). b) MONSOON KENNY : Cut into left front. SCRATCHINGS : a) MISS MAGICIAN : Insufficient recovery time (Trainer - 22.08.22/6h52). Rule 53.5 applies. b) FATHER'S FROST : Reserve runner. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None
