THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RHYTHM OF THE RAIN (S Khumalo) was restless in the stalls and jumped outwards. b) CHASING HEART (X Ndlovu) jumped slow, losing two lengths. c) BACK TO FORMENTERA (JP van der Merwe) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The tongue tie on RHYTHM OF THE RAIN (S Khumalo) was re-fitted at the start. b) Shortly after the start BACK TO FORMENTERA (JP van der Merwe) and GIRL SCOUT (L Mxothwa) were bumped out by RHYTHM OF THE RAIN (S Khumalo), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) GIRL SCOUT (L Mxothwa), which was hanging in from the 300m, proved difficult to assist. d) At the 100m BACK TO FORMENTERA (JP van der Merwe) was switched in in anticipation of running onto the heels of RHYTHM OF THE RAIN (S Khumalo), which commenced to hang out and thereafter shifted out away from the crop. e) Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with BABYITSCOLDOUTSIDE. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) BABYITSCOLDOUTSIDE (C Habib) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt) g) BACK TO FORMENTERA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised.
