THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OPULENCE (S Khathi) kicked the back gates of the starting stalls and was slow into stride. b) STATE OF MIND (F Herholdt) jumped awkwardly, losing two lengths. c) GLOBAL GODDESS (JP van der Merwe) and CROWN PLAZA (C Habib) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MUR MUR (R Fourie) proved difficult proceeding to the start, causing a delay to the start of this race. Assistant Trainer A Mtengwana was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future engagements, it may be suspended. b) CROWN PLAZA (C Habib) over raced in the early stages. c) JUST FOR LAUGHS (L Mxothwa) commenced to give ground to the field from the 200m. d) Shortly before the finish line, OPULENCE (S Khathi) and CONKER THE WORLD (X Ndlovu) came together and brushed on two occasions. e) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss in the running with MUR MUR. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that CONKER THE WORLD did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. g) Trainer GD Smith was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner of the horse GLOBAL GODDESS. Assistant Trainer Mr DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, signed an Admission of Guilt and Trainer GD Smith was fined R250,00. h) Trainer GD Smith was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner of the horse CROWN PLAZA. Assistant Trainer Mr DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, signed an Admission of Guilt and Trainer GD Smith was fined R250,00 i) STOLEN KISS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
