THE STARTER REPORTED: a) COUP ROYAL (M Mjoka) jumped outwards. b) V V POWER (Y Ramzan) jumped inwards. c) GOOM GOOM (JP van der Merwe) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Light rain fell during the running of this race. b) As the start was effected, SIBERIAN FOX (C Habib) was brushed out by COUP ROYAL (M Mjoka), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) Shortly after the start GOOM GOOM (JP van der Merwe) was brushed in by V V POWER (Y Ramzan), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. d) Leaving the 300m GOOM GOOM (JP van der Merwe) was carried outward by POTENTE (R Fourie), which commenced to hang out from the 400m. Thereafter, approaching the 200m, MY LORD AND MASTER (M Yeni) was steadied to avoid running onto the heels of POTENTE (R Fourie), which continued to hang out despite being repeatedly corrected. e) Jockey C Habib (SIBERIAN FOX) dropped his crop at the 50m. f) Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with SIBERIAN FOX. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) SIBERIAN FOX (C Habib) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt) h) POTENTE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
