THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PRINCE OF HEAVEN (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls and kicked the back gate. b) KING OF LUV (M Mjoka) and DOUGLAS DEVASTATOR (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length. c) STEPDANCE (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing two lengths. d) GREAT ECSTASY (C Habib) jumped slow, losing three lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to PRINCE OF HEAVEN (M Yeni), which dislodged its rider en route to the start. Both horse and rider were examined at the start and declared suitable to race. Thereafter, during the loading process, SARDO NUMSPA (Y Ramzan) was restless and broke through the front of the starting stalls. SARDO NUMSPA (Y Ramzan) was restrained by its rider, returned to the start, examined by the course veterinary surgeon, declared suitable to race and reloaded. b) On resumption of the loading process, GREEN CARD (S Khathi) became restless, reared over in the stalls and dislodged jockey S Khathi. GREEN CARD (S Khathi) was taken out of the stalls, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and withdrawn. c) Steady rain fell during the running of this race. d) STEPDANCE (K Minnie) commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. e) SILVAN PARK (R Munger) hung in in the concluding stages. f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding GREAT ECSTASY (C Habib), Trainer SB Kotzen will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled to jump on terms before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. g) In view of the report from the Starter regarding SARDO NUMSPA (Y Ramzan), Trainer GD Smith will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. h) In view of the report from the Starter regarding GREEN CARD (S Khathi), Trainer Z Oosthuizen will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. i) After the running of this race, the Jockeys lodged a protest in terms of Rule 5.2.3 with regards to the deteriorating track conditions and poor visibility. After hearing the evidence from Jockeys, Trainers and the Veterinary Surgeon. The Stewards, in consultation with the 4Racing Operators Representative, made a decision in the best interests of the welfare of the horses and the safety of the Riders to abandon Races 4,5,6,7 and 8. j) GRAND DESTINY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
