THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) GLOBETONIC (Y Ramzan) was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls.
b) DOG DETACHMENT (J Mphanya) and PERONZADA (M van Rensburg) were nervous in the stalls.
c) SEISMIC EVENT (S Khumalo) kicked the back gates of the starting stalls.
d) JACKSON MISISSIPPI (M Mjoka) jumped slow, losing three lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) GLOBETONIC dislodged Jockey Y Ramzan in the parade ring without incident. This colt was examined by the course veterinary surgeon on its arrival at the start and passed suitable to race.
b) DOG DETACHMENT (J Mphanya) and SEISMIC EVENT (S Khumalo) were hanging in from the 300m.
c) NAIROBI (L Mxothwa) raced green.
d) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on NAIROBI, resulting in a change of rider. Jockey Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500.00.
e) Jockey J Mphanya was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that as the rider of DOG DETACHMENT he failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Jockey J Mphanya signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1625.00 (5th place stake).
f) An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey E Webber's crop use.
g) MARADIVA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
