THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VIRTUAL IMAGE (M Mjoka) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, DON'T LINNGAR (J Gates) was bumped out by LEMME GO (A Mgudlwa) which jumped outwards. b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with VENERABLE in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey A Mgudlwa reported that LEMME GO did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey C Ngcobo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse AMERICAN DREAM more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey C Ngcobo struck the horse AMERICAN DREAM, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop, his record (0) in relation to this Rule and the fact that he won this Race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed. e) AMERICAN DREAM (C Ngcobo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Buckler acting on behalf of Trainer G S Kotzen advised (HM). f) VENERABLE (S Khumalo), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G H van Zyl advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) SEWELO raced equipped with blinkers (advised 05.09.22/7h54). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
