EL BALLERO threw his head down as the start was effected and lost two lengths. MINDFIELD lost one length. BLACK DEVON raced wide in the early stages. PRESUMPTUOUS was hanging in from the 250m. At the 1100m, MINDFIELD had to be ridden to keep pace with the field. Thereafter, this colt finished his race off strongly. Jockey Kennedy appeared before the Board and was afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which contributed to the performance of EXION. In this regard, he explained to the Board that, in his opinion, EXION had raced greenly around the Greyville circuit and is likely to need further. Notwithstanding this explanation, in view of the performance of EXION, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer Peter will be requested to report back on the condition of this gelding upon return to the stables. Jockey Kennedy signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that whilst riding EXION, he used his crop more than 12 times in this Race. In deciding what penalty to impose, the Board considered Jockey Kennedy's recent record in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of was imposed. The All Clear for this race was delayed whilst the Stipendiary Stewards satisfied themselves as to the correctness of the results from the photo finish. PRESUMPTUOUS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. BLACK DEVON raced with alumites in front, unshod behind. MINDFIELD raced with steel shoes and with cheek pieces. Vet: EXION - nothing obvious detected.
