THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KITE SURFER (J Greyling) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) GUAPO (S Khumalo), CIJIMPI (*J Solomons), NAZARE (R Danielson) and STROKE OF MERCY (C Habib) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) NAZARE (R Danielson), after being slow away, raced detached from the field in the early stages. Leaving the 1000m, Jockey R Danielson adjusted the footing to his left-side stirrup iron. Thereafter NAZARE, in response to Jockey R Danielson's urgings, commenced to make up ground to the field and stayed on in the concluding stages. b) Apprentice K A Brewer was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking SPECIAL DUTY more than twelve times in the entire race. Apprentice K A Brewer signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R 750.00 was imposed. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (13) and Apprentice K A Brewer's recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (1). c) GUAPO (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee C Jena, acting on behalf of Trainer P F Matchett, was advised (MduP). d) FUTUREWOLFF (J P van der Merwe), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer H E Adamson was advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) CIJIMPI is a gelding (gelding 2 March 2022) incorrectly carded. b) NOBLE KINGDOM raced with club colours (all black) Stipes permission.
