THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At approximately the 150m RAFIKI (C Habib) which had come to the end of its run, was steadied momentarily when tightened for galloping room between ULTRA QUICK (G Lerena) and RUN TO RIO (S Veale) which rolled out. b) Jockey S Moodley reported that BEACH PALACE did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the performance of L'ULTIMO (C Murray) (5.65 lengths, 8/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) RUN TO RIO (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
