THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RARE ONYX (G Wright) jumped outwards. b) FLIGHT ENGINEER (S Naidoo) and WALOYO YAMONI (A Fortune) jumped slow, losing one length. c) PILGRIM (*S Bungane) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, TIME HONORED (L Mxothwa) was carried outwards by RARE ONYX (G Wright), which jumped outwards. b) Approaching the 700m FLIGHT ENGINEER (S Naidoo) raced onto the heels of INQUISITOR (*B Plaatjies) and had to be steadied. c) Leaving the 150m KLEIN KAROO (G van Niekerk) rolled in and had to be straightened. d) IN MOTION (K Steyn) was hanging out from the 300m. e) Jockeys R Fourie and C Zackey reported that FUTURE FREE and KANAAL SKATER respectively did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these colts. f) LATE DECEMBER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GW Ennion was advised.
