THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLACK CHEETAH (A Fortune) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In the concluding stages Apprentice D D Louw (WARRIOR OF ROYALTY) was briefly unbalanced when bumped by IBHELE (K Matsunyane) which in turn was brushed out by MAR DEL PLATA (G Lerena) which was directed outwards away from the heels of B FIFTY TWO (C Murray) which had come to the end of its run. b) Apprentice D D Louw (WARRIOR OF ROYALTY) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. c) Jockey A Fortune reported that BLACK CHEETAH made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer J S Snaith will be asked to report back on the condition of this colt upon return to stables. d) Jockey S Khumalo did not persevere with BOOM SHAKALAKA from the 200m and thereafter reported that he felt something amiss in the running with this gelding. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report regarding BOOM SHAKALAKA, this gelding is suspended in terms of Rule 49.7 and a Veterinary Certificate is required prior to racing. Trainer G S Kotzen will be advised. f) RAFA'S BOY (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was advised (DZ).
