Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MOODY BLUE (M Yeni) refused to load and was withdrawn, causing a delay. b) FLIGHT ENGINEER (C Little) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) IKO IKO recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) For a short distance approaching the 200m, Jockey G Lerena (OCTOBER STORM) got his crop entangled in his reins. c) Jockey L Mxothwa reported that FLEUR DE VILLE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) In view of the performance of FLIGHT ENGINEER (C Little), which was not persevered with from the 100m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey C Little appeared before the Board and was questioned with regards to his riding of FLIGHT ENGINEER. He explained that this gelding was slow into stride, had faltered on a number of occasions and raced with its head up. As a consequence, he did not persevere with his riding from the 100m. He was further questioned as to whether he had reported this matter to the Stipendiary Stewards. Jockey C Little's attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to a Jockey being obliged to report any circumstances which, in his opinion, would affect the performance of his mount. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report regarding FLIGHT ENGINEER (C Little), this gelding is suspended in terms of Rule 49.7 and a Veterinary Certificate is required prior to racing. Trainer K Mitchley will be advised. e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding MOODY BLUE (M Yeni), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 22/06/2025 to 28/06/2025 inclusive) MOODY BLUE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. f) OCTOBER STORM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
