Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) The Farrier attended to the left front shoe of GREEN PLANET (M Yeni), causing a delay. b) SOOTY (D Ashby) was re-saddled at the start, causing a further delay. c) MEANT TO BE (G Behr) jumped slow, losing one length. d) TURBO TWENTY (O Noach) and TRIPPI'S SILK (A Fortune) jumped inwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 600m STREET OUTLAW (G van Niekerk) was bumped heavily by TRIPPI'S SILK (A Fortune), which raced onto the heels of ONE LINER (G Lerena) and shifted out sharply when steadied. After interviewing Jockeys G van Niekerk (STREET OUTLAW) and A Fortune (TRIPPI'S SILK), the Stewards were satisfied that this was a racing incident and took no further action. b) Leaving the 100m AZZURRI (*B Plaatjies) shifted in and had to be straightened. c) Jockey C Orffer reported that NIGHT TIGER changed strides continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 56.4.1.3 in that he failed to proceed to the parade ring immediately after being instructed to do so by the Clerk of Scales. Jockey G van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt and was fined R250,00. e) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 56.4.1.3 in that he failed to proceed to the parade ring immediately after being instructed to do so by the Clerk of Scales.
