Stipes Report
DURING THE LOADING PROCESS, KING OF SILK BECAME RESTLESS AND BROKE THROUGH THE FRONT GATES, DISLODGED APPRENTICE T MAYHEW AND BOLTED THE COURSE. KING OF SILK WAS TAKEN IN HAND, EXAMINED BY THE COURSE VETERINARY SURGEON, AND SUBSEQUENTLY SCRATCHED. THIS INCIDENT CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KING OF SILK (*T Mayhew) was restless in the stalls and broke through the front gates. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Stable Employee F Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies, was advised (GT). b) FRERE JACQUES (C Zackey), TALKOFTHEHEIGHTS (J R Syster) and CIVIL WAR (*G Dookhit) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FRERE JACQUES (C Zackey) shifted out away from the crop from the 300m. b) K Matsunyane reported that TRIP TO STATES changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) C Zackey reported that FRERE JACQUES made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the Starter's report with regard to KING OF SILK, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 8 August 2025 to 14 August 2025. KING OF SILK may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Stable Employee F Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies, was advised. e) PALACE ATTACK (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee B Mngeni, acting on behalf of Trainer A G Laird, was advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) KING BLUETOOTH was ridden by Jockey M Yeni (declared 7 August 2025 at 12H03). Stipes permission as Jockey R Danielson experienced traffic complications. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) RIVER KITTEN raced with a cornell collar (declared 3 April 2025). b) CIVIL WAR raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 5 August 2025 at 10H51). c) CIVIL WAR is a gelding (Gelded 12 September 2024). To be investigated. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) TRIP TO STATES examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) FRERE JACQUES abnormal respiratory noise and blowing post race. SCRATCHED: a) KING OF SILK bolted the course - immediate reinstatement (NHA / 12H29) Betting 100/1. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None. Race 1 contd.
