Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SUDDEN SONG (S Cele), which was reluctant to load, jumped slow, losing three lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. b) GLOBAL MOVEMENT (L Tarentaal) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MASTERFUL GUY (R Fourie) over raced in the early stages. b) SUDDEN SONG (S Cele) raced awkwardly on the bend and as a consequence raced wide between the 1000m and the 600m. In view of the performance, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Leaving the 400m MASTERFUL GUY (R Fourie) was unable to secure a clear run between ADMIRAL'S RANSOM (C Bantam) and GEOPOLITICAL (B Fayd'Herbe) and brushed the hindquarter of GEOPOLITICAL (B Fayd'Herbe), which in turn made contact with FAIRE ADVANTAGE (G van Niekerk) Thereafter, MASTERFUL GUY (R Fourie) was steadied and directed to the outside of a tiring ADMIRAL'S RANSOM (C Bantam) which rolled out , resulting in MASTERFUL GUY (R Fourie) being held up and having to be directed inwards to secure clear running at the 250m. d) After becoming unbalanced when brushed by GEOPOLITICAL (B Fayd'Herbe), FAIRE ADVANTAGE (G van Niekerk) rolled out and brushed GEOPOLITICAL (B Fayd'Herbe) outwards onto ADMIRAL'S RANSOM (C Bantam) approaching the 300m. e) THE HEAT IS ON (C Orffer) was momentarily inconvenienced when racing tight between AL BUGATTI (J Jacobs) and HAMLET (K Steyn) at the 150m. f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding SUDDEN SONG (S Cele) Trainer B Crawford will be advised to have this gelding re schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. g) FAIRE ADVANTAGE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WA Nel was advised. (SC) h) GEOPOLITICAL, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
