THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start GARDENER'S PRIDE (J Gates) was brushed by VOLDEMORT (R A Venniker) which jumped outwards leaving the starting stalls. b) DRICUS (S Moodley) over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) PRINCE FLORIAN (C Zackey) hung out from the 400m. d) Approaching the 300m VOLDEMORT (R A Venniker) was brushed on two occasions when improving between RUN FOR COVER (C Habib) and DRICUS (S Moodley). e) TURBO TWENTY (*D D Louw) hung out from the 200m and shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. Apprentice D D Louw appeared before the Board accompanied by Riding Masters M Ball and M Curtis and was advised to take the necessary corrective measures earlier in order to keep his mounts on a straight course. f) Leaving the 150m DRICUS (S Moodley) and DOWN BY THE RIVER (M Yeni) came together and brushed. g) Jockey D Daniels reported that CHINABERRY did not act in the prevailing good to soft underfoot conditions. h) In view of the performance of DANUBE (*M Mbuto) (14.00 lengths, 20/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. i) TURBO TWENTY (*D D Louw), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
