THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROYAL POINT (S Moodley) and ARMED FORCE (K Sakayi) lost one length. b) POWERPOINT (A Mgudlwa) and ROYAL POINT (S Moodley) were stubborn to load. c) NDABEZITHA (*C Dicken) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) ARMED FORCE (K Sakayi) raced green. b) SASSARI (R Khathi) over-raced in the early stages. c) In view of the performance of ENSUING (A Marcus), (3.55 lengths, betting 1/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) An inquiry will be opened into Jockey S Veale's (IN WITH A CHANCE) crop use in this race. e) Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse WULFSON more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey G Wright, the Board considered the number of times (16) Jockey Wright struck the horse WULFSON, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey G Wright used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed. f) IN WITH A CHANCE (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
