THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHIEFTAIN'S SHIELD (P Mxoli) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) GUERILLA WARFARE (S Moodley) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) BLOOMINGTON (*G Samo-Burthia) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LAUGHING WILLIAM (*K J Lihaba) raced wide around the turn and into the straight and tired badly from the 400m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer C Dawson was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of LAUGHING WILLIAM on return to stables. b) Jockey J Penny felt something amiss with SEA SHANTY and eased this gelding out of the race in the concluding stages. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the performance of UNION ROSE (C Maujean), (distance 13,25 lengths, betting 40/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey S Moodley reported that GUERILLA WARFARE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
