Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ONE LINER (M Yeni), AZZURRI (C Little) and GIMMEI RULES (C Zackey) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After leaving the parade ring, SPIRIT took charge of Apprentice G Samo-Burthia, bolted the entire course, returned to the parade ring, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay. b) CHURCHILLIAN (A Domeyer) refused to parade and proceeded directly to the start. Trainer C Bass was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future engagements, he may be suspended. c) Shortly after the start GREEN PLANET (*N Yuen) was bumped outwards by STEADFAST (JP van der Merwe) and made contact with KELP FOREST (L Mxothwa). As a consequence, GREEN PLANET (*N Yuen) was slow into stride. d) Approaching the 800m AZZURRI (C Little) rolled out and had to be steadied away from the heels of ESCAPRMENT (*B Plaatjies), which shifted in slightly when taking some pressure from SIR KORSKI (O Noach), which was attempting to improve into a position at the head of the field. e) In view of the performance of FIRINGONALLENGINES (G Wright), which raced wide and was unable to take up a position at the head of the field as per his normal racing pattern, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Leaving the 400m AZZURRI (C Little) was directed outwards and made slight contact with a tiring FIRINGONALLENGINES (G Wright). g) GIMMIE RULES (C Zackey) was hanging in and shifted in in from the 300m. h) GIMMIE RULES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
