Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MASK ON (M Thackeray) lost 1 length. b) WINTER WAVES (*D Pillay) was slow into stride. c) MAC HARDY (T Godden) stumbled shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (JN) : a) In the concluding stages SUN DAZED (S Moodley) when racing in restricted room, was awkwardly placed between LOU LOU THE LEGEND (S Veale) and JOSHUA HOTSNAKE (C Habib) which hung out from the 150m and was corrected. An Objection was lodged by Jockey S Moodley on behalf of the fourth placed horse SUN DAZED against second placed JOSHUA HOTSNAKE (C Habib) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the video footage and the evidence presented, the Board was of the view that but for the above incident, SUN DAZED (S Moodley) would not have beaten JOSHUA HOTSNAKE (C Habib). Therefore, the Objection was overruled and the Judges' result was allowed to stand. In arriving at this decision the Board considered the extent of the interference and the distance of 0.45 lengths between these two horses at the finish. Jockey S Moodley's deposit was refunded. b) LOU LOU THE LEGEND (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M J Odendaal was advised (DZ).
