Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	THEORY OF FLIGHT (S Khumalo) and NORDIC REBEL (G Lerena) were slow losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	Approaching the 1200m, NOBLE SNIPER (M Yeni) was steadied to avoid the heels of NOBLE STRIKER (R Munger).  This resulted in THEORY OF FLIGHT (S Khumalo) which proved difficult to settle in the early stages, having to steady and switch out to avoid the heels of NOBLE SNIPER (M Yeni).  This incident resulted in STONE COLD (N Klink) being switched out, and as a consequence, racing wide around the turn and into the straight.
b)	THEORY OF FLIGHT (S Khumalo) compounded from the 300m.
c)	In the concluding stages, IRISH TRACTOR (K Matsunyane) and MARDI GRAS (*K A Brewer) were carried out by NOBLE SNIPER (M Yeni) which shifted out away from the crop from the 200m.  As a consequence of this, IRISH TRACTOR was marginally unbalanced when making contact with MARDI GRAS which had to ease to avoid running onto the heels of CITY BY THE SEA (W Kennedy).
	An Objection was lodged by Jockey K Matsunyane, the rider of the 3rd placed horse IRISH TRACTOR against the 2nd placed horse NOBLE SNIPER (M Yeni) on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the concluding stages.  
The Objection Board, after giving due consideration to the evidence put forward by the connections, the distance of 0,50 lengths between the two horses involved and the proximity of the incident to the finish line, determined that IRISH TRACTOR would not have finished ahead of NOBLE SNIPER had this incident not occurred and consequently overruled the Objection and allowed the Judges result to stand.  Jockey Matsunyane's deposit was refunded.
An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey Yeni's (NOBLE SNIPER) contribution to this incident.  
d)	The crop of Jockey K Matsunyane (IRISH TRACTOR) was briefly entangled in the reins of Apprentice K A Brewer (MARDI GRAS) at the 50m.
e)	Jockey W Kennedy reported that CITY BY THE SEA was cut into in running.  The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f)	CITY BY THE SEA (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Assistant Trainer A Peter advised (DR).
