THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STRAWBERRY THIEF (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 250m STRAWBERRY THIEF (R Fourie) had to be steadied when tightened for galloping room between FUTURE FREE (M Yeni), which shifted out away from the inside running rail slightly and PINOT GRIGIO (A Fortune), which shifted in marginally away from UMFULA (G Wright). After interviewing Jockeys R Fourie (STRAWBERRY THIEF) and G Wright (UMFULA), the Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that a charge could be levelled against any individual Rider. However, Jockey G Wright was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances. b) Jockey A Fortune reported that he felt something amiss with PINOT GRIGIO. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. c) REGULATION, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer JJ Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised.
