THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	WALOYO YAMONI (M Yeni) was reluctant to load.
b)	THE BIG BANG (O Noach) and O'FELLOW (K Steyn) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride.
c)	BACKINTHEFASTLANE (*B Plaatjies) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	ROYAL DAWN (G van Niekerk) took an awkward stride shortly after the start.
b)	BLUE STEEL (S Veale), SOMMERSTERN (L Mxothwa) and O'FELLOW (K Steyn) over raced in the early stages
c)	At the 1300m LARKING ABOUT (*D Pillay) was directed outwards to avoid the heels of SPANISH VERSE (G Wright). 
d)	On entering the straight, Jockeys G van Niekerk (ROYAL DAWN) and G Wright (SPANISH VERSE) elected to direct their mounts outwards and to the outside of the racecourse.
e)	At the 350m Jockey M Yeni (WALOYO YAMONI) dropped his right-side rein, which he regained shortly thereafter.
f)	THE BIG BANG (O Noach) and DISRUPTIVE (*DD Louw) brushed approaching the 100m.
g)	At the 100m PRAIRIE DAWN (JP van der Merwe) was directed inwards and into clear running.
h)	In view of the performance of WONDERFUL TONIGHT (R Fourie), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
i)	SOMMERSTERN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Woodruff was advised. (TJ)
