THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WORLDLY (*N Yuen) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey C Zackey was examined by the Medical Officer and passed fit to continue riding. b) Shortly after the start, OCTOBER STORM (R Fourie) was steadied when crowded for room between ELUSIVE WINTER (*S Bungane) and DEMANDING DAVE (A Fortune). c) At the 50m BLACK CHEETAH (C Zackey) was steadied briefly when awkwardly placed on the inside of MAGICAL PLACE (C Murray), which shifted out away from DEMANDING DAVE (A Fortune). d) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with WINTER SNAP, which showed a tendency to hang out between the 300m and the finish. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey C Zackey reported that BLACK CHEETAH made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. f) In view of the performances of MILITARY COMMAND (K de Melo) and OCTOBER STORM (R Fourie), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) DEMANDING DAVE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
