Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHARLIE BUCKET (JP van der Merwe) was stubborn loading, causing a delay. b) LOMU (C Murray) and FREQUENT TRAVELLER (C Orffer) made contact leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start STRAIGHT RED shifted in sharply and unbalanced Jockey L Mxothwa. As a consequence, STRAIGHT RED (L Mxothwa) gave ground to the field and finished tailed off. Trainer J Crawford was advised that the racing manners of this gelding will be monitored and should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future engagements, he may be suspended. b) At the 600m PERFECT IMPACT (C Zackey) was steadied when close to the heels of CHANCE ENCOUNTER (G Wright). c) At the 400m LOMU (C Murray) was held up for a number of strides behind a tiring CHARLIE BUCKET (JP van der Merwe). d) MERCENARY (K de Melo) had difficulty securing clear running in the straight until the 300m. e) Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with QUIET PLACE. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. f) In view of the performance of CHARLIE BUCKET (JP van der Merwe), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) In view of the report from the Starter regarding CHARLIE BUCKET (JP van der Merwe), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load on terms with a companion. (Suspension dates: 11/12/2025 to 17/12/2025 inclusive) CHARLIE BUCKET may not be presented for re-passing during this period. h) CHANCE ENCOUNTER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
