Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	RANDOLPH HEARST (JP van der Merwe) and AVERSATOR (S Veale) jumped slow, losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Jockey A Fortune's skull cap cover came adrift at the start and had to be refitted. This caused a delay to the start of this race.
b)	Shortly after the start ROLAND GARROS (A Fortune) shifted out slightly and made contact with RANDOLPH HEARST (JP van der Merwe), which in turn made contact with AVERSATOR (S Veale).
c)	From an outside draw, BEWARE (G Wright) and FOX ON THE RUN (R Fourie) were taken in behind runners in the early stages.
d)	RANDOLPH HEARST (JP van der Merwe) proved difficult to settle in the early stages.
e)	Approaching the 1200m ROLAND GARROS (A Fortune) and JAN VAN GOYEN (C Murray) were carried inwards by PAY THE PALACE (C Orffer), which shifted in.
	Jockey C Orffer appeared before the Board and was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. 
f)	An Inquiry will be held to establish the reason ABSOLUTELY YES (K Steyn) had to be checked at the 1200m.
g)	FOX ON THE RUN (R Fourie) was hanging out in the latter stages.
h)	Jockey C Little reported that GOOD FOR YOU, which raced prominently in the early stages, tired quickly in the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
i)	Jockey C Zackey reported that GIMMIE RULES choked up in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.

j)	Trainer DM Kannemeyer was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of AVERSATOR. Trainer DM Kannemeyer signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning.
k)	JAN VAN GOYEN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M de Kock was advised. (ZM)
l)	HAPPY VERSE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (ZM)
