THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DISRUPTIVE (*N Yuen) jumped slow, losing one length. b) MELA STRENGTH (JP van der Merwe) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) AVIGNON (L Mxothwa) pulled hard in the early and middle stages. b) THE NIGHT FERRY (R Fourie) proved difficult to settle in the early stages and was hanging out in the latter stages. c) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with MELA STRENGTH. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) DEVIL A SAINT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D McLachlan was advised.
