Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (SR) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels after LUNCH MONEY was cleared following a second test (16h21). b) In the concluding stages NOW I GOT YOU (*D D Louw) was directed to the outside of the field to continue its run. c) Leaving the 100m THE MASK (C F Dicken) which shifted in independently in the initial stages, was carried in marginally by DEFINITELY YES (C Little) which shifted in away from the crop. Thereafter shortly before the finish THE MASK (C F Dicken) was brushed by DEFINITELY YES (C Little) which continued to shift in. d) An Objection was lodged by Jockey C F Dicken, the rider of the second placed horse, THE MASK, against the winner DEFINITELY YES, ridden by Jockey C Little, on the grounds of intimidation in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence presented, the Board was of view that but for the above incident, THE MASK would not have finished ahead of DEFINITELY YES. Therefore, the Board overruled the objection and allowed the Judges' result to stand. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered that DEFINITELY YES had improved from behind THE MASK prior to the interference occurring. It also considered the extent of the interference and the distance between these two horses at the finish. Jockey C F Dicken's deposit was refunded. e) Jockey C Little appeared before the Board and was reminded of his obligations to keep his horses straight in races and to take the necessary corrective measures sooner when his mounts shift ground in races in future. f) DEFINITELY YES (C Little), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Whitehead was advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) LUNCH MONEY raced with alumites in front, three quarter alumites behind (advised 06.01.2026/11h00). b) COUNTER ATTACK raced equipped with cheek pieces (advised 09.01.2026/15h51). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Jockey C Little (DEFINITELY YES) weighed out at 58.6kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. b) DOUBLE OLYMPIC (C Maujean) raced in club colours (Stewards' permission).
