Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	STEADFAST (JP van der Merwe) threw its head down as the start was effected, losing two lengths.
b)	WORDLY (*N Yuen) and WHIRLWIND (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length.
c)	PARATROOPER (S Veale) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h47)
b)	The Stewards reviewed the start with regard to STEADFAST (JP van der Merwe) in stall gate 16 and established that this gelding had thrown its head down as the start was effected, that any loss of ground was as a result of its own behaviour and therefore took no further action.
c)	After being slow to begin WHIRLWIND (R Fourie) was taken in behind runners from its outside draw.
d)	SPIRIT (K de Melo) was hanging out from the 400m.
e)	At the 150m WHIRLWIND (R Fourie) shifted out away from the crop and was immediately straightened.
f)	Jockey P Mxoli reported that he felt something amiss with ELSINORE, which commenced to hang outwards from the 400m and was not persevered with in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g)	WHIRLWIND, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee M Phaca, acting on behalf of Trainer J Crawford, was advised. (TJ)
