Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHIFTING PATH (C Bantam) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (16h30) b) There was a delay to the provisional result while the Judges satisfied themselves as to the correctness of the result. Thereafter, there was a further delay to the all-clear as there was a disruption in the telephone communications on course. c) Shortly after the start DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT (G van Niekerk) was crowded for room between WINTER PEARL (C Zackey) and FIRINGONALLENGINES (C Little) when both horses shifted ground marginally. As a consequence, WINTER PEARL (C Zackey) became unbalanced and FIRINGONALLENGINES (C Little) was steadied, losing position. d) Approaching the 1000m JET A ONE (G Behr) and WINTER PEARL (C Zackey) made contact when racing tight on the inside of DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT (G van Niekerk), which was taking some pressure from SOOTY (R Fourie), which was racing wide on the outside of DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT (G van Niekerk). e) MEET THE KING (A Fortune) was hanging in in the straight. f) FIRINGONALLENGINES (C Little) and SHIFTING PATH (C Bantam) were continually held up for clear runs in the straight. g) SOOTY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
