Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BACK TO BASICS (C Habib) was slow into stride. b) BIG CITY GIRL (R Munger) stumbled badly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, Jockey C Habib (BACK TO BASICS) became unbalanced when BACK TO BASICS was bumped in by SCOTTADITO (J Penny) which in turn was bumped in by BIG CITY GIRL (R Munger) which stumbled badly leaving the stalls. b) An Inquiry will be opened to establish why TIGER IN THE SUN (G Lerena), JAVA HOUSE (W Kennedy) and ROSE WILLOW (*J R Syster) had to ease at approximately the 1200m. c) Approaching the 300m, TIGER IN THE SUN (G Lerena) was steadied when buffeted between ROSE WILLOW (*J R Syster) which rolled in marginally and BACK TO BASICS (C Habib) which was switched out to avoid the heels of SPEECHMAKER (M van Rensburg) which shifted both ways away from the crop from the 300m. The Board after reviewing the footage of this incident, was of the opinion that the movements from the abovementioned runners had been marginal and therefore deemed this to be a racing incident. d) Apprentice P Mxoli reported that PRINCESS QUEEN did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) BLOOMINGTON (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (GF). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SCOTTADITO raced fitted with a compression mask (declared 26 April 2022 at 11H13). b) METEORIC raced without blinkers (declared 26 April 2022 at 16H33). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) JAVA HOUSE nasal discharge. b) PRINCESS QUEEN lame right hind. Veterinary Certificate and gallop required prior to racing (Rule 49.7 applies). Trainer G J Maroun to be advised (TL). SCRATCHED: a) LULU'S BOY abnormal temperature (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). b) TALLINN retired. Advised 26 April 2022 at 10H49.
