SHORTLY BEFORE THE START WAS EFFECTED, IN THE ETHER (R MUNGER) KICKED THE BACK GATES, RESULTING IN MAGIC CARPET RIDE (C ZACKEY) AND TIME FOR CHARITY (M YENI) PRE-EMPTING THE START AND BREAKING THROUGH THE FRONT GATES PREMATURELY. THESE HORSES WERE RESTRAINED BY THEIR RESPECTIVE RIDERS, RETURNED TO THE START, EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON, DECLARED FIT TO RACE AND RELOADED. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, IN THE ETHER (R Munger) kicked the back gates, resulting in MAGIC CARPET RIDE (C Zackey) and TIME FOR CHARITY (M Yeni) becoming restless and breaking through the front gates. These horses were restrained by their Riders, returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. Stable Employee H Chauque, acting on behalf of Trainer G J Maroun, was advised to reschool IN THE ETHER prior to her next engagement (GT). b) QUEEN'S PACT (P Mxoli) and ANGEL'S OASIS (K Matsunyane) were restless in the stalls. c) BLUP BLUP (*J Botes), QUEEN'S PACT (P Mxoli) and IN THE ETHER (R Munger) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) In view of the performance of IN THE ETHER (R Munger), (distance 7,60 lengths, betting 10/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the performance of QUEEN'S PACT (P Mxoli), (distance 11,75 lengths, betting 16/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey C Zackey reported that MAGIC CARPET RIDE took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Apprentice J Botes reported that BLUP BLUP did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) BLINDFIRE (*B Marx-Jacobson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) RED HOT KISSES was ridden by Jockey J R Syster (declared 24 February 2026 at 15H58). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MAGIC CARPET RIDE examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. b) BLUP BLUP not striding out right hind. c) QUEEN'S PACT not striding out right front; blowing post-race. d) IN THE ETHER not striding out in front.
