Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WINTER IN AUCKLAND (L Mxothwa) reacted and became restless in the stalls when GIVEN TO FLY (A Domeyer) kicked the back gates. WINTER IN AUCKLAND (L Mxothwa) was taken out, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h54) b) BLACK PATH (*B Marx-Jacobson), which raced wide on the turn and into the straight, commenced to hang out and shifted out continually between the 200m and the finish. c) GIVEN TO FLY (A Domeyer) and MIGHTY MARY (R Fourie), which showed a tendency to hang out, brushed on two occasions at the 100m and again shortly before the finish when both horses shifted ground marginally. d) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of PLAYFUL JOULES he misused his crop by striking PLAYFUL JOULES more than 12 times (13), which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined R3000,00. e) MIGHTY MARY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
