Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VALIEVA (M Yeni) jumped awkwardly outwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (SR) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) As the start was effected VALIEVA (M Yeni) jumped awkwardly outwards making contact with the left-side front gate, which resulted in this filly being slow away. c) Shortly before the finish KYTHERA (S Moodley), which changed legs and shifted in, was steadied to avoid running onto the heels of BUTTERCUP BABY (R A Venniker) which rolled out gradually from the 150m and was corrected at the 50m. This incident precluded Jockey Moodley from riding KYTHERA out to the finish. d) Jockey M Yeni (VALIEVA) reported that his saddle slipped backwards in the running. This was confirmed by the patrol footage. e) In view of the performance of VALIEVA (M Yeni) (4.15 lengths, 14/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) The Board has adjourned to review Jockey S Khumalo's riding of CONVOCATION in this race and to consider the statements of Jockey S Khumalo and Trainer M N Prinsloo including a detailed investigation into the betting trends both locally & internationally, including exchanges. g) BUTTERCUP BABY (R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
